This is a summary of observations culled from putting together and updating the Google Doc- The Lockdown which provides constantly updates links to people and places that need help and Inspiration - aka the stuff to do to keep us sane while stuck inside.
It is a statement of the obvious to say a lot has changed in a few days as the virus spreads and we become more acutely aware of its impact on the world's health and economy.
As we get more focus - we start to see what’s need to in the words of Robert Campbell - Respect the Obstacle
With the frontline of the US health system at breaking point, it is clear PPE and vital equipment like ventilators are URGENTLY needed.
Masks have become the THING but the debate rages as to whether anything of that the N95 is effective, but it appears experts are falling on the side that health workers need the best they can get, people who are out of their house should wear something over nothing.
The other emergent theme is the rise of the new frontline- think of it as concentric circles with health workers in the center and the circle beyond containing the NEW FRONTLINE- these are the people who ensure the country stays running.
Think about it- there are a ton of them- from postal workers to delivery drivers, to truckers, to utility workers, UPS and FedEx drivers, restaurant cooks, etc, etc…Without their support and health, the country would grind to a halt.
On the flip side, of life inside the home- people are adapting and experimenting with the potential of Zoom- from dance parties to cocktail hours, to book clubs even to dating- the platform has emerged as a winner and a savior to not just keep everyone working but to also keep us entertained.
